Alvord Mine Loop from the Tanks at the Fort Irwin Gate. May 23, 2010
My ride started at home. A fast 36 mile run to the Tanks at Fort Irwin.Vernon and Cameron met me there.
From there we headed East to the Spring just off the road.
After a quick stop at the spring for some last minute adjustments to our gear we hit the wash south to Coyote lake, Just as we came up to the lake we jumped on a fast road and went east into the northern part of the Alvord Mountains.
We then got into a wash and went north to the top of the ridgeline and the Border of Fort Irwin. We found a Geocatch here.
It was very windy so we just kept on moving. Found an old Jeep trail that took us to a cell phone tower. Once we hit the Poleline road that runs from Minneola Rd to Primm we went Southwest to Alvord Mine rd and took that to the Alvord Mine. The Alvord mine has some cool old rock buildings and tunnels. We had to explore...
After a little expolring we were sick of the wind so it was a qiuck run back to the truck.
